What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is a soap-making method that combines oil and an alkali (such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide) to make soap without external heat sources. This causes a chemical reaction called saponification, which produces soap. This simple method of mixing oils and fats with natural substances like ashes or alkalis to create soap, has been in use for thousands of years. This ancient knowledge of essential skincare and hygiene helps maintain a healthy skin barrier by cleaning skin and leaving behind antioxidants, vitamins, and a small amount of moisture rich oils.
